Overview


On DL650 Gen1 and DL1000, the stock windshield is large enough to protect against incoming air (and airborne particles) hitting the rider's chest, but is notorious for creating a strong buffeting.
Buffeting is a high-frequency instability, caused by airflow separation or shock wave oscillations from one object striking another. It is caused by a sudden impulse of load increasing. It is a random forced vibration. [1]

There are various after market solutions that try to improve the wind protection while reducing buffeting. Some windshield are shorter to allow more air (useful in summer riding and/or hot areas of the world).
