Overview

Suzuki V-Strom motorcycles do not come with hand guards out-of-the-box, except foe some models which are marked as adventure (and essentially include for OEM accessories for an extra permium).
Hand guards are important for a few reasons:
1. Protect the hands against flying debris, insects and other small objects
2. Protect the hands from scratching against branches
3. Protect the hands from front wind, in particular when riding in cold weather
4. Protect the hands and the motorcycle's handle bar when falling/tipping over

Suzuki OEM Hand Guards

Note: Even though Suzuki calls these hand guards, they are made of relatively soft plastic that does not have a metal frame and are therefore fragile.
Most likely they will not guard the hands in case of an unfortunate fall.
They do have value as wind guards (see items 1 & 3 in the overview, and item 2 to some extent, but not item 4).
